Sodium hypochlorite is the liquid chlorine that busy and automatically dosed pools run through a dosing pump: fast-acting, unstabilised, and free of the cyanuric acid build-up that comes with tablets. It loses strength in heat and sunlight, so order to your actual turnover rather than stockpiling — and watch pH, which liquid chlorine tends to push up.
An aqueous solution of sodium hypochlorite — liquid chlorine — at a nominal 10% available chlorine, roughly 100 g/L, with the actual strength confirmed on quotation. It is unstabilised: unlike TCCA tablets it carries no cyanuric acid, so no stabiliser accumulates in the water however long you dose. That makes it the natural partner for a dosing pump on a high-turnover commercial pool, where a controller meters chlorine continuously against demand instead of waiting for a tablet to erode.
The trade-off is shelf life. Hypochlorite degrades in storage — faster in heat and direct sunlight, both of which a Hong Kong summer supplies generously. Liquid chlorine is normally fed by a metering pump from a day tank, with the feed rate set against your free chlorine target — the usual band is 1–3 ppm. A controller-driven system adjusts the feed automatically as bather load changes; see dosing and monitoring systems if yours is still hand-adjusted. Two habits keep a liquid-chlorinated pool honest. First, order fresh and store cool and shaded — strength you lose in a hot plant room is chlorine you paid for and never dosed. Second, check pH regularly: hypochlorite is alkaline and nudges pH upward with every litre dosed, and chlorine disinfects poorly once pH drifts above about 7.8. Safety. Sodium hypochlorite is a corrosive oxidiser. Store it cool, shaded and sealed, away from acids and every other chemical — never mix chlorine products, and never let hypochlorite meet acid, which releases chlorine gas. Keep away from children. High-turnover commercial pools burn through chlorine faster than tablets can comfortably feed it, and a dosing pump meters liquid continuously against demand. Liquid chlorine is also unstabilised, so it adds no cyanuric acid — heavy tablet use gradually pushes stabiliser up until chlorine works slowly. Smaller pools on a floating dispenser are usually happier on slow-dissolve tablets.

Yes — sodium hypochlorite is alkaline, so continuous dosing tends to push pH upward over time. That matters because chlorine disinfects poorly at high pH. Pair liquid chlorination with regular pH checks and correction, keeping pH in roughly the 7.2–7.6 band; many dosed pools run an acid feed alongside the chlorine feed for exactly this reason.
